DIY Homemade Taco Seasoning
Updated: Sep 7
Did you say homemade Taco Seasoning? Why, yes I did.
I promise you, it will taste just like a premade seasoning only better because you can tailor it to your liking! More or less salt, more or less heat – you do you, boo!
Throw it in an old spice jar and keep it in your pantry and bazinga, you’re ready for taco night!
We made “flexitarian” tacos with this mix the other night (aka chicken meat combined with minced mushrooms, cooked and combined together) and the kids FREAKING devoured it. I know (and am very thankful) that I have adventurous eaters, but I didn’t think this would be such a hit.
2 Tbsp chili powder
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, optional
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp paprika (I used smoked)
1 Tbsp ground cumin
1-1/2 tsp sea salt
Combine and store in airtight container.
Feel free to double or triple the recipe to have more on hand. You can always doctor the portions up after you cook with it once.
Start with 1-2 Tbsp per pound of "meat" and then adjust to taste.
